Last month, an article of mine was posted on Retail Wire (a discussion board focused excluvsively on everything having to do with retail). In it, I talked about the biggest mistakes made in interviewing and the readers were allow to vote and comment on them.
The two items ranked as the biggest mistakes were:
1. Not having a clear picture of what you really need to hire.
2. Lack of skills and training on the interviewer's part.
As I went back and read all of the comments yesterday, one idea jumped out at me. I have always preached to never interview with the applicant's resume in front of you because it allows the resume (the applicant) to control the interview.
But here is an even more powerful idea: Take the resume and turn it over and say, "Let's talk about the things that are not on youur resume."
If you would like to read all of the article and look at all of the great ideas and suggestion go to: RETAIL WIRE
