The more you know the less you risk so here are 20 questions/phrases that will help you find out more about an applicant. These questions/phrases will force the candidate to expand on their simple answers and tell you more of what you need to know.

7. Can you tell me more about that?

8. And you’ve never had a problem with _____?

9. Could you be more specific?

10. How did/do you feel about that?

11. What makes you think that?

12. What didn’t/did you like about that?

13. What did you do then?

14. If you could change one thing, what would it be?

15. What examples come to mind?

16. Why do you think you saw the results you did?

17. What happened next?

18. What concerned you most about that?

19. What did/do you hope to achieve?

20. If you could wave a magic wand right now, what would it do?
